Dear Christian,
The author hasn't dropped the pen on your beautiful story yet. Let his Spirit guide and comfort you
Galatians 5:22-23
I've always wondered why we were created if life is just a constant battle of the mind.
Did God create us, then leave us to figure it all out like I do with my Sims when I create the perfect life and leave them to make up their own stories while I watch like a movie?
Is that what being created for His pleasure means? Is this all just some chaotic simulation? What's the point of existing?
I don't have all the answers yet. But I've learned this: in the midst of pain and questions, the wisest choice is to stand with the Spirit while on this journey of earth.
Let's understand why.
The flesh is our physical nature, and the Spirit is our divine nature. Through wisdom and learning, we come to understand that what happens in the spiritual realm ultimately shapes the physical. Galatians 5 makes it clear-if we aren't led by the Spirit of God, then we're being influenced by something else. Humanity was originally designed to be governed by God's Spirit, but sin corrupted that design, allowing other spirits to take hold. As vessels on earth, everything we do is driven by either the Spirit of God or something else.
This same reason of being vessels is why certain earthly constructs-time, age, death-only apply to us here. Once we leave this realm, they cease to exist. Yes after earth, there is no death only life in either salvation or damnation. Now because we are vessels, meaning bodies that can be occupied or possessed, we function according to the spirits we align with. And the flesh easily gravitates toward things that bring temporary pleasure things that deceive us into believing we are acting on our own free will- because it is a temporary vessel.
While in reality we do not know it but these acts of free will the flesh loves has its accompanying spirit.
Fornication โ Spirit of Lust
Stealing โ Spirit of Greed
Stubbornness/Disobedience โ Spirit of Pride
Overindulgence (Food, Movies) โ Spirit of Gluttony
And the host of other vices inspired by spirits deviated from God roaming the earth for our unsuspecting souls. All these spirits easily influence us because they require no effort to live by; they simply play into human weakness.
And so, we have a world filled with envy, jealousy, murder, lying, and cheating. Things we often dismiss as "just human nature."
But human nature, as originally designed by God, is meant to be governed by the fruits of the Spirit: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, humility, and self-control. These are qualities that unlock our true potential, but they require effort.
We can work hard to get fit, to earn money, to survive just another day yet we often see surrendering to God and overcoming sin as "too much work." Why?
Mind you, we bear fruit too living by the desires of the flesh, -hatred, sorrow, unrest, impatience, selfishness, pride, and lust. But we're blinded by the enemy's illusions so we think living a life not directed by God is freedom.
Matthew 7:13-14 reminds us: "Wide is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it." True freedom is found on this narrow path where you are free from the shackles of your flesh and living up to your fullest potential. But many chose captivity because fighting for freedom is hard.
The truth is, anything worthwhile demands effort. The harder the battle, the greater the reward. So the more we surrender ourselves to the Spirit in us, which is God, the more fully we come alive. Now why would God allow us to endure all this? If we were created to be free why not just make us free and destroy all that is holding us captive? What is the point of it all? Again, I don't have all the answers, but I know that I won't be invested in a storyline without any climax and relief. Our life is a beautifully written story and the author hasn't dropped his pen yet.
He created us and put us in this world he created with choices and we all must make a choice. We are already here anyway, and the only way is through. The question is: which path will you take?
Many exist, but only one leads to true life. And that is the narrow road, where God walks with you making the journey easier.
As David said, "What else have I in heaven but You? And having You, what else could I want on earth?" We are not just side characters in this story we are the stars and the author has every desire to make us shine.
As one who has Jonahed numerous times only to end up in Nineveh just the same, I want to implore you love yourself enough to want the best for yourself. And who better to give you the best than God who created everything. We are but Spirits as well having a human experience just for this time but how this time is spent will choose the life we will live in eternity. I believe you will make the most of this journey by wisely choosing God.
Keep shining superstar ๐
